I want to say thank you for the student body for electing my as their new Co-editor of the newsletter on the Manhattan campus. I would like to hear from students and the community. In order for us to do better we must be better. Let us begin by sending in articles on your concerns. I want to help our community. I will be in the computer room on Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays to keep it open for longer for us. You asked for it and I am here on those days to keep the compter room open longer.

As the Co-editor of the newsletter this year I really need your help and want to support you. Let's work together and support one another. We can start by everybody submitting articles on how we can improve our community and share the good things as well. If you need help let me know I will be available in the computer room at the above listed times. Let's have a better year and make the best out of it.

Winter Approaches Are you Ready?

Winter is approaching and one must be aware of the internal changes required from the universe and ourselves. The Winter Solstice is a time of growth and internal blossoming. We must strive to access our potential and feed the spirit within us. Take some time to fertilize your imagination and grow with projects that contribute to the environment. The image I created above is imagination and conjures the blessings of internal change and introspection.

Begin with a winter cleaning of your home and work space to facilitate positive and full bounty. What crops will you plant in the winter. Yes you can still plant and serve humanity and spirituality. Consider yoga and mediation to determine where you might want to let your mind and spirit wander. Let your mind unfold and it will direct you to the places of needed growth. Be mindful to dress your house with plants and warm earth colors if you suffer from depression. Placing your hand in soil will enrich not only your environment but your inner peace as well.

Many people feel disconnected at this time but now it is more important than ever to seal up any areas of debits. By debits I mean areas in which there is no return on efforts. The Winter is a powerful time for psychic turmoil to take over or create a psychic upheaval to move away debris that is toxic. This time of crisp and clean air frigid with clarity demands our attention and reverence. Apply the same principles within your own life, work, play and love.

Love , Amour, Attraction take key positions in the Winter as the focus is to become integrated with the paradigm of all virtues. It is more challenging to be giving when the resources are scarce. It is more challenging to be loving when people become isolated within themselves. We must open our self up to the notion that we can create our own source of light and inspiration. The Winter is a glorious and beautiful avatar that creates some of the most prolific and durable works. In this time the fragility of nature is addressed and the moderation of power is paramount. We learn that power can be overwhelming when the frequency is placed too high. The frigid Iceland winds can tear across the landscapes stripping the breath from creatures and plowing down trees. The winds can also brush treasures to one's attention and learn the arcane secretes of agriculture in the Winter.

Let us all be mindful of our words and deeds during this time and not implode on sanguine generosity but genuine efforts that heal the world. Are you ready to cultivate your harvest and distinguish between the realms of reality. The winter can be an oasis of wonder or the frigid hand of death. Let us recognize the beauty in both. The shadow lands beckon some to get lost in winter landscapes of forgotten dreams and regrets of days past. Do not linger there. Acknowledge the limitations set forth and blend your creativity and critical thoughts to constructing edifices of grand cohesion. The mind, body and spirit are indomitable!

Be well and carry forth your dreams with constructive realities. Now is the time to create from within an then build communities of hope, power and inspiration celestially.

Hospitality at Dean Communityu Garden

Nestled in the heart of historic Crow Hill section of New York, Brooklynites were giving praise and honor to their own artists and recreational horticulturalists. The
gates were open welcoming those who shared a love of community, hearth, history and old fashion friendship. The Dean Community Garden has been a center piece of sisterhood and brotherhood supporting a diverse community of religions, cultures, languages and ethnicities all with a hearty embrace and smiling faces. This annual celebration featured open showcases of neighborhood visual artist, musicians and craftsman.

Warm and inviting, you were treated to complimentary food that drenched the palate with invigorating slices of watermelon, refreshing gourmet cinnamon basil tea, plucked straight from the community garden, with succulent grilled chicken and corn on the cob. Hospitality like this is not just a southern tradition but debunks the stereotype that Northerners in Brooklyn can roll out the bountiful hospitality and gracious embrace that the south is known for. At this event there were no gaudy balloons of random colors shifting in the air, just the simple effervescence that makes one feel at home in the big city. Walking past the gates into the garden you were asked with the gentility of neighbors to sign the guest book and partake of their prosperous garden.

Despite the angry and unrelenting heat of this summer, city inhabitants with record breaking 90 degree plus weather , the garden was basking in floral glory. I would be remiss if I did not take a tour of this oasis smiling in between the historic brownstones that have been standing since the late 19th century. Some of these homes have been restored to their original glory while others take on a more contemporary façade.

Kiana Love brought such pride and commitment in showing me her garden plot. With a great affinity for herbs she led me to the lavender bordered by the stalwart trees. Not to be outdone, she shared her prized cinnamon basil plant which upon a cursory glance appeared familiar and shifted into a perfumed talisman. This cinnamon basil is not common and as you pluck its leaf the botanical oils from it exploded with a pungent and delicious cinnamon scent as the leaf turn a slight red in your hand.
She also expressed the diversity of culture when sharing that her organization Wild Women celebrates their sisterhood in the garden with gatherings for women to empower, honor, and explore the feminine strength of resilience and creativity. Open to all, Wild Women integrates metaphysical principles with the influence of the female hierarchy honoring earth based sensibilities of Gaia (Earth Mother) and attuning themselves to the natural rhythm of nature.

Tie dyed shirts were sprawled across the table almost challenging the rainbow to take notice from Tiffany. She designs and manufactures tie dyed fabrics in shirts of all sizes and color. Exuberant and engaging, she works with children and remains dedicated to opening their pathways for expression through the Arts and expression. Tiffany’s infectious smile and passion for her art brought a natural charm to this event.
Framed with unique and well thought out precision was photographer Chris A. Kelsaw whose passion for architecture stood out. Her presentation of four, framed pieces connected to a large window frame brought out the depth of her vision. One image was taken in a defunct prison and her use of light and vision took you past the wire gates beyond to experience a trance effect.

Adorning a table with earrings featured the designs of Kendall using the intricate micro beads to flush the color from your skin to rest upon your nape. Lustrous copper earrings , brilliant green and gold leaf sets to crotched sets of orange and gold she set the tone for individuality. These pieces could easily flow from work to playful banter.
Kendall also exhibited her vocal talents with the Ashe Initiate, a performance group who sang with ancestral reverence and passionate voices. It was clear that some forethought went into their performance by the response from those who attended the event.
Another neighbor, Greg gave the journey of how he became a resident. Sharing the lore of Crow Hill, an area of Brooklyn in which affluent African Americans moved to during the period of segregation. It has since changed along with the decade to include other ethnicities and is experiencing another renaissance period.

Greg has planted squash in his garden along with basil and even added lavender as well. Greg pointed out the compost heap, which attests to communal commitment to reuse this in the soil and replenish the land. There is a chicken coop as well with hens and a rooster roaming the garden. This may be Brooklyn but Nature is alive and well here. Greg and the other neighbors showed their pride in keeping the neighborhood thriving and fighting to keep its individual personality standing firm.

If you are looking for charm, history, unique building interiors and a neighborhood that shares values and commitment they still exist. You just have to take a walk and stroll into the valley of Brooklyn to find it. Home is where you make it to be and these residents have taken that to heart.

Yes Yes Yes Mercury retrograde has begun again. Take a deep breath and then laugh. The joy of changes coupled with the meeting of past friends makes for a wonderful and interesting time. Any talents that you have will resurfact to the top and may inspire you to continue with past projects.

The many masks that we wear will be put to the test during this period. You may find yourself changing masks and roles. Enjoy the task and learn from what comes forth.

THe Circus is Back in Town

I was given an opportunity to attend Brittany Spears- Circus Tour at Madison Square Garden. I am not a fan of Brittany but I do like some of her songs, especially “Slave for you”. Before I move onto Brittany let me tell you about the opening acts.
Opening acts are like a crap shoot. When they bomb they stink up the place. Kristina De Barge , yes the daughter of James DeBarge , who was Janet Jackson’s first husband strolled onto the three ring stages with comfort and belted out a melodic anthology to the crowd. Young, Eager and Talented she kept the De Barge name intact. She has a solid foundation to a lasting career, as she was infectious and charming without sending you into a diabetic coma.
Next up was One Act a quartet of four young men who started out singing accapella to prove that yes they could sing. The “Minnie Vanilli” debacle has somehow cursed all acts to prove that yes they can carry a tune. It was decent but not mind blowing. When they stopped pontificating and broke out into crisp choreography intertwined with high energy then they sold their act. Visually the only drawback was the retro 80’s style military jackets an odd throw back to The Back Street Boys. If we wanted to see retreads then we have You Tube to watch their videos. Sometimes less is more and a simple yet cohesive visual style would benefit this group to push their true potential.
The last act was Jordan Sparks whose album has been certified gold and has the most recognizable hits. She was surrounded by back up singers who fought to carry the show. It is undeniable that she has a voice but her stage presence was often overwhelmed by her cadre at times often eclipsing her. Only when she belted out the diva signature improvisation did she resurface. Her set was the longest and at times became long running. She sang a rendition of Shannon’s “Let the Music Play” which barely had enough wattage to light the stage. She did reclaim herself when singing her hits and the audience knew every word singing in unison with her.
Twenty minutes later The Circus opened with comedic clowns, dancing little people, twirling ballerina’s, flying trapeze artists and a plethora of dancers. The effect was in short well crafted with a circular screen for everyone not to miss the fireworks. A highlight of the show was the gymnast in the chair who bounced in the air effortlessly with her partner. It made you forget that she rolled onstage in a wheelchair with only the upper half of her body. Bravo Brittany!!!

Say what you will and many have Brittany has studied how to entertain and she opened with her hit “Circus”. As the ringleader in her Circus she leads you through a visual fantasy of Eastern and Western Mysteries pumping adrenalin through her talented and funky dancers. Not to be outdone she hung in there and twisted her nubile body in the air with barely a kiss lifted by a chair made from two male dancers bodies intertwined. Brittany understands that a show is to draw you in and want to become part of it.
Brittany leads her flock to dance swathed in Hindu adorned regalia and dance they did. The spotlight was on and when she wanted your eyes on her they were. If you are wondering who came to see the former Disney girl gone World Star the garden was planted with adults, children from six years and up, parents, multiple ethnicities and starry eyed fans. Say what you Brittany will has created an image and intends to continue her reign as long as she wishes. It’s nice to know that she took time out to become a mother and a person. She has indeed taken some time to smell the roses and get a little piece of life of her own away from The Circus.

The Construction of an ICON

Michael Jackson, a small town boy from Gary, Indiana along with his brothers and sisters took a journey to become one of the most prolific families in the global world. His journey was no more unique than other large families with multiple children with the exception of insightful talent and divine timing. The Jackson family made its foray into the world of entertainment under the guise of providing relief from the daily grind for family and friends to venturing out to the streets particularly the Motown streets. Motown Records under the creation and executive management of Berry Gordy had cleverly laid the foundation for pop music infusing melodic stirrings of Rhythm and Blues to the infectious call and response of Gospel which reached inside your gut to demand a response whether it was toe tapping or head bobbing. Berry Gordy had ability for fishing out talent with a desire to achieve and surrounded himself with talented lyricist and musicians to construct his musical empire circumventing the oppression of racism and segregation many ethnic artist were shackled with. Motown boast the regal court of Ashford and Simpson, The Supremes, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Commodores, Marvin Gaye, Martha Reeves, along with a plethora of other countless luminaries.
Many myths sprouted up on who first discovered the Jackson Five from powerhouse singer Gladys Knight to the effervescent and glamorous Diana Ross. No one can claim this honor but Katherine and Joe Jackson the parents of the Jackson clan. Along with fame comes the sacrifice of the simple pleasures of privacy. The Jackson family could have had all the talent in the world but without a solid and unwavering work ethic they would have been another footnote. Each sibling was talented in their own right but what made them special was their commitment to one another. Michael Jackson pulled his oldest sister Rebbie out of obscurity with a hit song he composed entitled, “Centipede” to which Rebbie performed with a feline grace and seductive moves. You can’t help wondering that they must have had some fun in the studio together. Michael also created “Scream “with his baby sister Janet who had already achieved several career milestones but when these two came together it was an infusion of gigantic talent. Michael ‘s artistic generosity was also shared with Diana Ross when he penned “ Muscles” a seductive disco fringed tune to which Diana known as “The Boss” sang with unrestrained pleasure sweating from her mahogany bronzed skin. Michael’s longtime partnership with Diana Ross led them to “ease on down the road” in The Wiz, a funky, soulful adaptation of Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz. Michael starred in the film as the winsome and agile scarecrow. The Wiz was ground breaking as an all African- American cast on Broadway starring a then unknown Stephanie Mills whose vocals seared the cushion off the seats and had patrons applauding till their hands became sore. Michael’s animated dancing and artistic flair with his side kicks the crows in the film is officially documented as one of the funkiest pieces of choreography in cinema.
One of his most prolific artistic donations to the world was “We Are the World” he co wrote with former Commodore member Lionel Ritchie who had just won multiple American Music Awards that night. Under the solidarity of philanthropy and humanity the heavens opened up that night and several of the world’s top celebrated artist came together to sing this song to contribute to the end of world hunger and suffering. A previous song “Do They Know it’s Christmas “was released primarily by several successful European artist to address the world famine problem as well.
Notably the song was only a tether to the experience of the creation of this project. Artist came in “checked their ego at the door” to lay the track down in one night and shoot the video at the same time. Music videos have become full film productions with budgets in excess of millions and to comprehend the magnitude of this cannot be understated. Under the gifted and technical prowness of Quincy Jones the project pulled in new artist at the time from Sheila E. known for the “The Glamorous Life” who was nominated for Best New Artist and performance to seasoned and timeless legends like Ray Charles, Tina Turner, rock legend Bruce Springsteen to musical maestro Al Jarreau. The song and album was a global success and generated millions of dollars that went towards aid with humanitarian and performer Bob Geldof heading the effort to distribute the much needed resources.

Now that Michael Jackson has passed away from cardiac arrest the true impact is just now being felt. Michael Jackson’s artistry moves as an undercurrent morphing into a rip tide. Michael Jackson ripped apart music records and stereotypes with the release of “Thriller” the best selling global media release by a single artist. That record alone brought not only different ethnicities together but generations as well. How interesting that multiple generations of children and adults would dance and swell with joy over one artist! Michael Jackson demonstrated again that music can heal and bring people together. Michael was given the gift of expression among his many other gifts and was able to transform pain, joy, isolation, betrayal, sadness and hope into a medium that would hold up against racism, classicism to build bridges in the world one continent at a time. At times Michael‘s visage was simple in a world of hidden agendas and larcenous individuals but his message remained consistent in that he loved the children of the world. The children of the world also included those between the ages of one to one hundred. Like most icons while they are being constructed they are people first with human flaws and challenges. It is through living that icons are born and cemented not in their deeds alone but in the inheritance they leave to the living beings.
Michael like everyone else has had strained relationships with his siblings and parents. Some years are good and some are challenges. Michael Jackson did leave behind three children to which he shared a part of himself that is a mystery to many. Now that he has passed a deluge of therapist, social workers, clinicians and pseudo psychiatrist have offered their assessments. Based on observed behaviors of Michael Jackson from him showing his infant baby on the balcony terrace to having his children shrouded in veils many have come to conclusions on his stability as a parent. Common assessments espoused have been Axis II disorders of Narcissistic and Obsessive-Compulsive Personality disorder and the primary clinical disorder as depression. There have been speculations of a prescription addiction brought on by an accident he had during the filming of a Pepsi commercial in which he suffered burns to his scalp. It would be reasonable to be prescribed medication for a head trauma and is not farfetched as some may assume. Michael Jackson’s love for children would only naturally lead him to having his own family.
Michael Jackson was also brought up on child molestation and abuse charges to which he was exonerated from twice. Michael’s monument to childhood and innocence were captured in his Never Land Ranch which was not open to the public but he created for children to enjoy in his company. There will always be speculation as to his personal relationships with the many children that came but fundamentally they have not been proven. This of course had to have had an adverse affect on him driving him further into isolation as a form of protection from avaricious opportunist and the intruding media looking for more.
With the physical death of Michael Jackson we are left with the dissemination of his estate. Some will hope to gain financial awards while others hope to receive a memento of his accomplishments from Grammy’s to World Music Awards. The most fortunate and blessed will cherish and build upon his love which permeated from his music to continue to inspire one to go past what is expected and touch one soul at a time.
Michael Jackson was a poetic child who grew into an artistic, soulful man with a curtailed childhood to become an Icon who left behind a legacy of music, incredible dancing, philanthropy and fashion. In his early death at fifty on the verge of a final sold out world wide tour he was transformed into an enigma who like any great artist left you wanting more.

The Autumn Equinox and it's Origin of Mystery

It had occured to me that I have not even discussed the Fall season so I have placed a short exert from a book I have written. This just gives a cursory overview of the mythological and folklore history behind. As I post this the astrological sun is in Pisces with the moon Virgo. Virgo compels one to give service so how fitting that I am providing this today.

During this time in our history the world is finally facing a univeral halt to asses their actions. Charlatans are being exposed for theft of money and trust placed in them. The Bankning and Finance Industry are now only publiclly being held to scrutiney but other areas of business including non profit are also being challanged to work with a code of humility, ethics and morality.Please feel free to comment.

The psychological and spiritual influences of the Autumn Equinox reverberate primarily on the inner levels of the conscious and unconsciousness. The classic myth of Demeter, the goddess of Fertility and Agriculture among other rites, holds the secrets to life and death on a material level. Specifically Demeter dealt with agriculture and the cycles of the organic life on the mundane level but spiritual evolution on the esoteric level. Foremost is the gender in which this is housed in. Female as Demeter is the mother, Persephone is the Maiden, and Diana or Hecate, according to some traditions is the Crone. Others insist that Demeter became the Crone while she mourned for her daughter. As an immortal disease was not absorbed but doled out arbitrarily as the deity punished or rewarded as the occasion or sacrifice demanded. When Demeter mourned for her daughter’s kidnapping depression was birthed in the spiritual plane and transmitted to the material plane. IN general a loss of sunlight, vegetation, lack of resources, inclement weather were all personifications of a "spiritual mourning" bleeding into terra firma. Demeter transferred her pain to the mortals and they suffered physically and overtly. I in short mortals became the conduit for divine sufferings. The pantheon of deities suffered at the neglect of temple rites and offerings. Mortals were more concerned with survival than appeasing the gods. Pluto had stolen Persephone and taken her to the Underworld. This was known as the rape of Peraphone. Pluto wanted a wife and found Persephone beguiling. The only witnesses to the abduction were Zeus and Hermes. Demeter mourned and stagnation wreaked havoc upon all life infecting the Gods themselves. There is a myth that Demeter appealed to all Demi-Gods and Gods alike to find her daughter. No one could find her. Shrouded in mystery and fear many dared not to tread to the Underworld. Those who had crossed the River Styx owed their allegiance to Pluto/Hades, the owner of the Underworld. Hecate, one of the Crones and Goddess of Magic and the Moon, located Persephone by using her psychic faculties of seering. She was also the ruler of witches, those with advanced spiritual and psychic talents, and thus enacted her psychic gifts to peer past the veil to the underworld. Once this information, from the Goddess of Witches, Magic and the Moon became intuited with Demeter, the Goddess of Fertility, Transformation and Wheat, then she demanded her daughter's return from Hades/Pluto. Pluto/Hades did not relent and Demeter continued to let death and stagnation permeate the Earth and Cosmos. Zeus, the King of the Gods and owner of the Thunderbolt, could not permit this to continue and sent Hermes/Mercury, the God of Thieves, Communication and Mirth, to send an official proclamation to Hades to return Persephone to her mother. Hades conceded to his brother, Zeus King of the Gods, urgent proclamation to stop suffering and lack of prayers and offerings being sent to the Gods. Hades/Pluto did not independently depend on the prayers or offerings sent to him as the other deities because his realm of Death/Transformation was part of the natural hierarchy, which allowed him to maintain an aloof stance with the other Gods and their respect if not begrudgingly. Persephone, the daughter of Demeter, was in the classic tradition "raped" by Hades/Pluto. This changed her and during the dormant period with Hades/Pluto his power over Death was transferred to her. She gained insight and access into the shadow realms to include the psychic ablities, neacomacy, magic, she unwillingly was taken underground against her will tricked by a beautiful flower that the earth held she had never seen. As soon as she reached for the flower that grew in darkness the ground opened up and Pluto carried her down into his palace of Hades. She was a victim of deception and illusions. The Underworld is the owner of illusions and mystery and Pluto was the master of that realm. She was despondent and wished to return but Pluto would not allow that. Pluto seduced her with mystery and illusion against her vibrant psyche. Her sadness was eventually assuaged by Pluto desire for a mate and she felt compassion for his sadness and empathy for his lonely palace. Pluto shared his love and lust with Persephone who was a virgin maiden and she was birthed as the dark flower, giving her the title of the Dark Queen of the Underworld, She exercised her rulership over this realm and could see the true nature of beings and their desires. Nothing was masked to her anymore. The girl goddess had ascended to a Queen with a puissant gaze and mastery over the shadow realms and Death. She had come to see the beauty in death as transformation to evolve to another existence. This was something only she shared with Pluto and the other Gods did not have. When the news came that Hermes had opened a path for her to return to the Light she became excited and ran towards it to become reborn yet again.

Honor the Winter and Prepare for Spring

I know it has been more than a while since I have been here. What can I say I have been traveling and and have some items to add. Spring will be here March 20th the Spring Eqinox. Many of us are contemplating changes that could come in the form of a new job, new home, new family members just anything new. Now is also the time to clean out the debris left from winter and celebrate our accomplishments from the wonderful season of Winter. Take the time to honor yourself and your ancestors.

Light a white candle and say a prayer for them. Nothing was more soothing and comforting than those of us who were lucky to have parents read to us and encourage us. Your ancestors can hear your kind words and it does reach them. In this season let us rejoice for our family. Yes these are difficult times but every season has its beauty.

Myths about Mercury Retrograde

Mercury is in retrograde right now from July 4th to July 28th. Many people are espouting doomsday rhetoric. This is a time for re-directing, evaluating, and aligning any plans that you have in the works. Just think of it as a time to work with engineers to fine tune any issues that may arise. Past events, people and things will appear around this time. As per the rule it is wise to re-check any documents that are going out for the public and family. Gemini's and Gemini rising will find this a good time to get some much needed rest. Stress levels can accumulate and make even the best people go crazy.
This is a good time to meditate and visulize on your goals and the end results. Oppurtinities may appear that will never materialize again. Just because it comes in a retrograde cycle does not mean it is not good for you. A blessing is a blessing!!

Look at Star Jones!! former host of the "View " on ABC. She annouced her departure from the show before the "agreed" time Barbara Walters and ABC wanted it realeased. A furer came and the media gobbled it up. Star has since picked up a job with HDTV and with her "Star" power she will do well. Barbara Walters mentioned that her exit was not dignified . How dignified can a termination be? No loyaties are there anymore!! This is a good example of how retrograde can change a situation and bring you a different outcome. Barbara is a powerful network executive and Star Jones-Reynolds a strong minded and persistant personality. Star used her ability to be persistant and break for a new position.

With so much emphasis on the planets and our newest discovery we should do well to remember the feminine grace. The primary planets have only one planet named after a female, Venus. For some that don't know we have a new planet that has been discovered. Let's welcome Sedna. Before we discuss this new addition we should celebrate the newest Female Principle energy in the cosmic arena: Sedna! Until now the only primary planet of feminine power was Venus. Venus bestowed her favors upon us with beauty, wit, charm, the arts and the power of seduction. Also known as the evening star she glistened like a fine gemstone against the gilded neck of dusk. As the Empress of the Night, Venus provided enlightenment for all travelers and sailors through choppy and the dangerous waters of life.

Sedna is three times further away than Pluto and was discovered using the Mt Palomar facility in November by astronomers from the California Institute of Technology, Yale Observatory and the Gemini Observatory. They estimate it's temperature to be about -240 degrees Celsius(-400 Fahrenheit)
The significance of this planet being named after a Goddess is akin to the era we live in. This is the story of Sedna. As the legend goes, Sedna was a beautiful Inuit girl who lived with her father. She was very vain and thought she was too beautiful to marry just anyone. Time and time again she turned down hunters who came to her camp wishing to marry her. Finally one day her father said to her "Sedna, we have no food and we will go hungry soon. You need a husband to take care of you, so the next hunter who comes to ask your hand in marriage, you must marry him." Sedna ignored her father and kept brushing her hair as she looked at her reflection in the water.Soon her father saw another hunter approaching their camp. The man was dressed elegantly in furs and appeared to be well-to-do even though his face was hidden. Sedna's father spoke to the man. "
If you wish to seek a wife I have a beautiful daughter . She can cook and sew and I know she will make a good wife." Under great protest, Sedna was placed aboard of the hunters kayak and journeyed to her new home. Soon they arrived at an island. Sedna looked around. She could see nothing. No sod hut, no tent, just bare rocks and a cliff. The hunter stood before Sedna and as he pulled down his hood, he let out and evil laugh. Sedna's husband was not a man as she had thought but a raven in disguise. She screamed and tried to run, but the bird dragged her to a clearing on the cliff. Sedna's new home was a few tufts of animal hair and feathers strewn about on the hard, cold rock. The only food she had to eat was fish. Her husband, the raven, brought raw fish to her after a day of flying off in search of food.
Sedna was very unhappy and miserable. She cried and cried and called her father's name. Through the howling arctic winds Sedna's father could hear his daughter's cries. He felt guilty for what he had done as he knew she was sad. Sedna's father decided it was time to rescue his daughter. He loaded up his kayak and paddled for days through the frigid arctic waters to his Sedna's home. When he arrived Sedna was standing on the shore. Sedna hugged her father then quickly climbed into his kayak and paddled away. After many hours of travel Sedna turned and saw a black speck far off into the distance. She felt the fear well up inside of her for she knew the speck was her angry husband flying in search The big black raven swooped down upon the kayak bobbing on the ocean. Sedna's father took his paddle and struck at the raven but missed as the bird continued to harass them. Finally the raven swooped down near the kayak and flapped his wing upon the ocean. A vicious storm began to brew. The calm arctic ocean soon became a raging torrent tossing the tiny kayak to and fro. Sedna's father became very frightened. He grabbed Sedna and threw her over the side of the kayak into the ocean. "Here, he screamed, here is your precious wife, please do not hurt me, take her."
Sedna screamed and struggled as her body began go numb in the icy arctic waters. She swam to the kayak and reached up, her fingers grasping the side of the boat. Her father, terrified by the raging storm, thought only of himself as he grabbed the paddle and began to pound against Sedna's fingers. Sedna screamed for her father to stop but to no avail. Her frozen fingers cracked and fell into the ocean. Affected by her ghastly husbands powers, Sedna's fingers while sinking to the bottom, turned into seals. Sedna attempted again to swim and cling to her father's kayak. Again he grabbed the paddle and began beating at her hands. Again Sedna's hands, frozen by the arctic sea again cracked off. The stumps began to drift to the bottom of the sea, this time turned into the whales and other large mammals. Sedna could fight no more and began to sink herself. of her.
Sedna, tourmented and raging with anger for what had happened to her, did not perish. She became, and still is today, the goddess of the sea. Sedna's companions are the seals, and the whales that sit with her at the bottom on the ocean. Her anger and fury against man is what drums up the violent seas and storms . Hunters have a great respect for her. Legend has it that they must treat her with respect. Shaman's from the world above must swim down to her to comb her long black tangled hair. This calms Sedna down. Once this is done, she releases her mammals to allow the Inuit to eat from the bounty of the sea. It is for this reason in the north that after a hunter catches a seal he drops water into the mouth of the mammal, a gesture to thank Sedna for her kindness in allowing him to feed his family.

It is wonderful to note that she is above all a survior against all odds and was vigilant to fighting agianst the wrongdoings of women. Yemanya, a Yoruba orisa of water correlates to this story as well for the protection of women against maladies and evils of the world. This is a goddess from the Native peoples . Inuit are a people who live near the Arctic. Their homeland stretches from the northeastern tip of Russia across Alaska and northern Canada to parts of Greenland. Inuit refers to the people formerly called Eskimos. The term Eskimo comes from a Native American word that may have meant 'eater of raw meat'. They prefer the name Inuit, which means 'the people' or 'real people' and comes from a language called Inuit-Inupiaq. The singular of Inuit is Inuk, which means 'person'. These are a strong and spriritual people who rule with morality and compassion. This new planet signifies the coming of the feminine principles to balance and create harmony. This is needed to subside the turbulant actions of tyrants and despots currently in or wanting power.

Time is relative but thoughts and deeds in momentum are unstoppable. With that in mind I offer the gift of projection. Simply visualize with detailed aspects where you want to be and how you want to get there. Pick a month for it to manifest itself in. Now that is done. Whew! This is most important setting the steps in motion. Consider the time frame you are in and how long will it take. For everything there is a season! Cultivate the best aspects of the Winter, Summer, Spring and Autumn seasons. Winter is the time to draw on internal spiritual and psychic strength. Work on networking with those in the field you want to be in and make physical connections with them through parties, meetings, planning a project, anything to established the physical connection.
Image a magic carpet that defies gravity . You are moving to defy any obstacles in your way. Assess yourself and your current associates. Old Time Charms!

If anyone ever doubted the use of charms then they don't know that they actually do work, combined with will and focus. I had a example happen to me. I was trying to open the office and the keys you not open the door. I tried several times and even had some of the staff try with not success. Eventually I stood back and remembered that some doors need the right word to open them. I knocked on the door three times and said Abracadabra! The door opened to the shock of everyone. No one heard me say the magic word. Once in the next door was closed as well and the keys just would not open it. I had two staff try and no success. I said the words again and it opened. Sometimes you just have to rely on the old magic to get things done.

The MTA Strike

For those who live in New YorkCity their holiday season was touched by the MTA Strike!, which lasted for 3 days. For many they were held hostage not by the absence of transportation but by other "Stick Ups" This was a time many New Yorkers got to know their neighbors again. The first major time was during The Twin Towers incident which took the lives of many. Spirituality and Morality came to the forefront again. Where there was normally a dead silence in elevators the chirping of voices echoed and people excisions glances and smiles along with friendly banter. Church's were overflowing with overfilled pews and cash piled high on collection plates. One of the many stick ups were the insanely high taxi prices that shot past fantasy into the black hole sucking the money out of hard working people just to get to work. Blessings work in many ways and karma has a way of evening things out. I witnessed many travelers in cars picking up people just to take them to Manhattan at just the cost of the tolls. I personally caught a ride with a Jewish chauffeur who charged just $6.00 to head into the city from Brooklyn. Along the way he gave us a tour of historic New York and a few short cuts that got us to the city in 20 minutes. Some unfortunates had to wait to take the BM bus from Brooklyn to Manhattan that was completely packed and waited for as long as 3 hours just to catch a bus. The total travel time was about 4- 8 hours for some to get to work and back home.
I waited outside in -15 weather and listened to the stories of the city dwellers. More than a few nurses, hospital staff, city workers and private industry workers were told that that if they did not come in they would be terminated or written up. In a city that is one of the major global conduits I found this disheartening. In the midst of no transportation one had to endure long cramped rides to work , with some still having to walk over the bridge. From a birds eye view on the evening news camera it looked like "The Trail of Tears". It is amazing that there were no reports of failed hearts and physical tragedies. The real tragedy is that even though MTA employees were fighting for some respect and dignity in their jobs the industry of New York City still punished its working class with threats and termination so near to Christmas. Everyone should take stock and realize that when one group is attacked others are attacked as well. Furthermore it is lillegal to terminate any employee due to the strike. Simply do the research and contact the Department of Labor and the Human Rights commission. Ignorance is a high price to pay but lethargy will kill you!
Don't forget that New York State is a "Right to work State". For those that don't know . I suggest you take the first step and look up its definition and arm yourself accordingly.
For some they were not able to pick up much needed checks. This hurt the city by closing businesses early and some closed down for the year disintingrating much needed revenue. Others had to trek across barriers to get their check and the funds were not available. This would have been the time for employers to show their support and appreciation to employees to make funds available or develop contingency plans for them to collect their money. The employees that did come into work despite other issues such as lack of childcare should be entitled to a holiday bonus to show some respect. This is the time to evaluate if you are really respected at work.

The rich cannot exist without the poor! If you did not know by now then you should be preparing to bank at least two months pay aside for emergencies.

The Mercury Retrograde is over on Saturday. It turns direct and some of us will be relived. This was a great time to do some serious work and reap the benefits as it turns direct on Saturday. Some of you may feel like a superhero after what you have been through. Just remember that this process is about taking the time and having the intuition to follow the steps necessary for evolution. Many times the challenge will be to integrate separate parts of our shadow selves with one's public personality. Using rational thoughts and research have allowed some individuals to leave the retrograde with a complete and succint profile. Venus retrograde will end soon as well with many of us returning to Courtesy as the first and final edict in success.

Harry Potter's New Movie: Goblet of Fire

The new Harry Potter movie will be released this 18th of November and it promises much action and adventure. I have read all of the books and this one should really bring "the one who we must not name" aka Voldermort ,whose birth name was Tom Riddle into focus.. There are 4 houses in Hogwart's School and each one has it's own personality.
I looked at the symbols for each house and assigned them into one of the four elements.
Gryffindor would be the element of Fire. Their symbol is the Lion, Leo who ruling planet is the Sun. They are natural heros who act on instinct rather than intellect. They attract the brave , strong and courageous. Courage come in many forms and is cultivated. Neville Longbottom is an unsure and shy wizard whose parents were the victims of a curse that made them insane. He has become a stronger and vigilant wizard by standing and fighting next to Harry. Gryffindors have heart and are burnished to become heros. Harry Potter and Ron are in this house and they exhibit the qualities of defenders very will with Herminone.
The next house is RavenClaw. This house is for only the cleverest and those of high intellect. Represented by an Eagle they embody the characteristics of refinement, aristocracy, intellect, shwredness, and resourcefullness. Luna Lovegood, whose father is the editor of the Quibbler, is one of Harry's staunches supporters. She even created a hat with an animated Lion's head that roared at the Quiddich games. She is crafty and sees things unseen by the normal eye. Cho , a delicate beauty Harry had a crush on is from this house and she cared for Harry even after Cedric suffered throught Voldermort's hands. When it comes to spells and potions this house is one that can create it! Rowena , the house founder was known as a very powerful caster and created the moving staircases at Hogwarts. This house represents the element of Air. With Air the ability to travel if seceond nature and their is natural curiosity that lends itself well to all the sciences and mathmatics. Air is not as connected to the other element and can be cool and detatched. They may appear as aloof and cold but otherwise willing to assist in any challenge.
The next house is Slytherin with the symbol of the snake. The founder was a parsal tongue , one who could speak with snakes. This house would represent the element of Water. Snape, the Potions teacher is in this house and is very crafty and suspicious. Snape is a wiz at potions and desires to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts. He and Harry have an adversarial relationship as Harry's father, James did not like each other. The element of Water would give these individuals sensativity, creatvity and mystery. Water can be a pool or ocean and depending on their alignment they can be full of mirth or maliciousness. Personal survival is the primary goal of the Slytherin individual. They have a disdain for those not of high birth and can be aristocratic. Draco Malfoy is in this house as is his father who is a DeathEater. Of all the houses this one has the most DeathEaters , who support Voldermort. You can understand why many in this house are happy at the most recent turn of events.
The last house in Hogwarts is Hufflepuff. The name in itself sounds fluffy and wonderful. The founder of this house took in eveyone regardless of their background or social status. He was known for being fair and promoting equality. This house would represent the element of Earth. Earth would brings strength, strong work ethics, morlaity, a sense of humor. In the Goblet of Fire champions from each school were chosen based on over all balance. Cedric Diggory of the Hufflepuff house was selected from Hogwarts. This should be an indication to the greatness of this house and its members.

Just when you wanted to write Tracy off she would do something humane and compassionate when you least expected it. Scorpios have a sharp wit and can be sarcastic.
